Will Still is the new manager of AJ Auxerre for the 2026-2027 season, having signed on June 12th to succeed Christophe Pélissier. The club, undergoing a transformation with stadium expansion, is targeting a new chapter in Ligue 1.

The Belgian-English coach, formerly of Reims and Lens, aims to build on the survival objective achieved last season. He has a revamped squad, particularly in goal where Mamadou Diop was signed to replace Donovan Léon, who left for Saudi Arabia. The 26-year-old Mauritania international, praised by club legend Guy Roux in training, is discovering top-flight football. "Mamad is very tall, imposing, and very good so far," stated Will Still. "He has undeniable qualities and we want to give him the chance to progress." Paul Nardi arrives as competition.

The incoming transfer business is complete for Auxerre. Around 16 million euros were invested this summer, not including a 5 million option to buy Rémy Labeau-Lascary at the season's end. The club remains open to departures, dependent on acceptable offers for certain players.

The squad has been refreshed in several areas. The team can rely on an experienced core and promising new signings for the campaign ahead.

Expansion work on the Louault stand has been underway since last spring. It is set to increase the stadium's capacity from 17,500 to 20,000 by early 2027. These new stands will feature large lounges.

Funded by the club, this development represents an investment estimated between 17 and 20 million euros. A new living area is already operational, the press box is being transformed, and the visitors' dressing room will soon be renovated. A commercial and medical complex is also planned for the future.

Auxerre begins their campaign with a trip to Lens on Saturday, August 22nd at 5:15 PM. Their first home game will be the following week against Angers. The full schedule can be found on our fixtures page.

The group selected for these opening challenges is set. Will Still has chosen goalkeepers Mamadou Diop, Paul Nardi and Mezerette. In defence, players like Akpa, Sierralta and Mandengue will provide experience. The midfield will be powered by Danois, Diousse and Owusu, while the attack will feature the likes of Gaëtan Bair, Maddy and youngster Wei.

Auxerre's season starts under new management, beginning with an away fixture against RC Lens this Saturday afternoon.
